[Engels]Interwelded as words and meaning
Parvati and the Lord of Lords,
Parents, masters of all the earth:
Grant inspired meaning to my words.
How can the poet's slender powers
Deal justly with so large a theme?
Why should I think that I can cross
The ocean in a coracle?
A fool to seek a poet's fame,
Shall I win only ridicule?
Tall men can scarcely reach the fruit:
A dwarf, I satretch my arms in vain.
Yet, where the ancient poets cut
The gateway, I may enter in.
Where diamond pierced the way, a pearl
Is threaded by the softest thread.
