Of an INTERIECTION.
AN INTERJECTION is a broken indeclinable part of Speech, which expresseth a sudden passion of the minde in an imperfect voice. |
Some are of Rejoycing: As, Hey, Hey, or Heida, Och, Oh, O braef, Oh brave. |
Of Sorrow or greefe: As, Eylacy, Alas, Och my, Ah me, Ach, Ah, Ey, Alack. |
Of Detestation: As, Foey, Phy. |
Of Exhortation: As, Sa, Sa, Sa fall on, Lustigh, Lustely, Weer aen, Once more, &c. |
Of Laughing: As, Ha, Ha, Ho, Ho, |
Of Calling: As, Hou, Hem, Hola. |
Of Threatning: As, Wee ghy, Woe yee. |
Of Silence: As, Sus, Swijght, ofte, Weest te vreden, Hush, Mom, Owist, or Peace. |
Of taking Heede: As, Siet toe, Take heed, Wacht u, Beware, or Gard yee. |
Of Admiration: As, O Godt, O God! O Heere, O Lord! |
Of Crying: Och my, Oh me, Och arme Ziele, Oh poore Soule, O dierbare liefde, Oh deare love. |
