St. Willibrordstraat.Beste Van Eeden, ik had al lang gewild je schrijven, maar ik heb dat steeds uit en afgesteld. Ik wou zoo graag eens met je praten over mijn voltooide boek: ‘Pathologieën’. Want ik wil zoo graag weten of je mij de uitgifte daarvan afraden moet. En behalve over het boek verlang ik toch ook zóó naar je. Mijn vriendschap is nu wel stiller geworden, maar daarom volstrekt niet minder veilig en vast. Ach, die menschen als Karel Thijm toch ook een is. De goeie Giza heb ik verleden week ook weergezien, want ze is mij komen bezoeken. Ze bracht veel vriendelijks en veel nieuws van Bussum. Hans is naar Zürich en wat zal Walden nu stil zijn479.. Hans en ik leven maar stil. Als ik vast aan de R.V.B. benoemd ben, gaan we wel trouwen. Iedere dag daar op 't kantoor is mij wel hard, maar professor meester Van Hamel, die daar veel invloed heeft, helpt mij. Ik moet over 'n week of zes examen doen, en na 'n eigenlijk inferieur gedoei kan dat nu wel gelukken. Toch heeft mijn hoofd veel geleden, en ik weet zeker, dat mijn geest niet geheel gaaf meer is. Het zou mij wel moeielijk vallen naar Bussum te komen, en dat wil ik liever niet. Maar je bent toch iederen dag aan de Eendracht, nietwaar? Wil ik eens bij je komen daar? Ik ben vrij van half eén tot half twee 's middags. Dus niet heel lang. Kun je me niet eens komen halen van de R.V.B (Keizersgracht 258) en dan kunnen we samen koffiedrinken? Maar als ik 't maar vooraf weet, want anders blijf ik met den middag maar in het gebouw. Ik hoop, dat je niet aan mijne vriendschap twijfelen wilt en aan mijn genegenheid. Dat ik je weinig schrijf en weinig bezoek is, omdat ik het moeielijk heb. Dag beste vriend, veel vriendelijks van Joop. |
