I know that objections may be and are made upon the name of Hop, upon his relations at Amsterdam. But all well consider'd, it was the best that could be done; Van der Hoop was not, in my opinion, to remain; and turning a man out of such a post in such a time, it was necessary to put a man of sense in his place, as Hop certainly is, and of uncommon capacity and application.
