(Klaagt over ongeregeld aankomen van zijn brieven; heeft een brief van Charles van 29 Aug.)

My brother tells me that those here who look on the fate of Berg op Zoom as a decisive point with relation to the measures in Holland, are much mistaken, without entering into any detail¹⁾. As soon as I have received the letter from the Greffier which I expect I shall inform your Grace of the contents of it. I expect none but good news, and I am sure that by the event it will be found that in everything I have said, I have kept much within the bounds of truth, and have not ventured as far in defence of my opinion and principles, as I could and as I might have done......
