Dear Mademoiselle Loveling,
My husband has gone to Aix-la-Chapelle to undergo a treatment for his eyes, and will not return for a few weeks. But my mother is staying with me during his absence, and if you will come to lunch, as you propose, next Wednesday, it would give us great pleasure. That need not prevent your paying us another visit when my husband returns. I know that I shall be acting according to his wishes if I say that in case Monsieur Fredericq, your nephewGa naar eind(1), is coming to Brussels at the same time, I trust he will accompany you here. You remember that old saying in the ‘Proverbs’: ‘In many counsellors there is wisdom’. | |

We would each have something to say about Sophie, and we might hope that some wise decision would be the result. Pray let me have a line to say whether we may expect you. Yours sincerely, Jessie Couvreur.
