To fight against this it was decided to found a new association composed of the different Latin American Nation Student Associations which already existed. This decision gave origin to the proposal for holding the First Latin American Student Congress (C.L.A.E.).
Cuba was unanimously elected to preside over the IVe C.L.A.E. in 1966. The nomination was based on the vanguard role played by our country against imperialism, and the strength of our principal student organisation.
