Space bar moves carriage forward a space at a time, to separate one word from next. Can also be used to correct common typing mistake: accidental omission (or insertion) of letter.
For example: if you have typed:
‘Very god idea...’ instead of
‘Very good idea...’
Insert missing letter o as follows:

| 2 | Set carriage against letter y of very |
| 3 | Overtype y, depress space bar and, holding it depressed, type letter g. Let space bar rise, depress it and (again holding it depressed) type letter o |
| 4 | Type letters o and d same way. |
Maintenance
Requires very little maintenance, however heavy load of work. Naturally will give best results, if treated with care, every precision-machine deserves. Always slip dust-cover over machine, when not in use, to protect. Advisable: periodically to clean type & platen. From time to time you should have typewriter thoroughly checked. This lengthens life, keeps in good working order.
