Vietnam revisited

Ever since the sending of Marines or warships to impose Washington's will became unpopular and outmoded after Korea and Vietnam, America developed additional techniques of blackmail and extortion to get done what needed to be done to advance its dollar imperialism. Cuba was illegally blockaded since 1960, because Eisenhower did not like what Castro was doing to establish a socialism oriented regime. After military action failed, Washington tried various ways to assassinate him. They did the same in Vietnam. They assassinated Vietnam president Ngo Dinh Diem and his brother and felt they solved the crisis. Instead they drowned in an Asian quagmire for 15 years at the cost of the lives of 56.000 soldiers plus those of several million innocent Asians. It seemed that the humiliation of the Saigon defeat induced Americans to keep the Marines at home and halt terrorist attacks on foreign lands. In the 21st century, when Mafia tactics blackmail and extortion failed, the White House again launched preemptive strikes, first preferably with cruise missiles to save American lives. Bill Clinton fired 32 missiles into Afghan mountains to try to assassinate Osama bin Laden. Military attacks on the territory of sovereign nations became standard practice in us foreign policy. Nobody seemed to be surprised or even mind, when Bush 41 send outside the un machinery 36.000 military troops into neighboring Panama to pick up the country's head of state, Manuel Noriega. He was locked up in an underground jail never to be heard of again.

Bush 43 is even more determined than both Ronald Reagan and his father. Reagan bombed Libya, invaded Grenada and achieved through intense economic blackmail the destruction of the ussr. Bush 41, after having participated as vice-president in Reagan's illegal aggression, initiated the 1991 Gulf War, this time with the blessing of the un. He avoided entering Baghdad, being aware of the fact, that the us could not afford another Vietnam in the heart of the Arab world.

Bush 43 is characterized by obvious signs of mild retardation and an iq range between 51-70. ‘I am not a textbook player,’ he

told Bob Woodward (author of Bush at War), ‘I am a gut player.’ A gut player, saddled with an inexperienced, seriously undercoded Texas brain, is in the meantime running the most dangerous military machine in the world. Bush 43 presents an imminent danger to all of us.

He was a C student at Yale during the Vietnam war, and wrote in his autobiography, A Charge to Keep (pp50), ‘Some speakers came to campus to talk about the war, but my friends and I did not attend the speeches. We discussed Vietnam, but we were more concerned with the decision each of us had to make: military service or not.’ His memoir presents a clear glimpse of how Bush 43's brain is processing data from the outside world. Junior did not sign up for Vietnam. He flew in the Texas Air National Guard. Therefore, his recent spectacular landing as an Air Force fighter pilot in full gear on an aircraft carrier, was perhaps the most infantile publicity stunt dreamt up in the White House to date. He never fired a shot in his life. At Yale he was deaf and blind for what went on in the 60's and 70's in southeast Asia, including us chemical warfare against Asian peasants.

Reasoning is the process of thinking, especially of logical thinking and problem solving. In the mind of Bush, Saddam is the principal problem. Assassinate him and peace will be achieved. Therefore 25 million dollars are now being offered to hasten his demise. That is what the Kennedy White House believed was the way to solve the problem in Vietnam: shoot the Diem brothers. But the Vietnam war lasted 12 years after their deaths. Even if Saddam would be killed, the Iraqi war theatre is being transformed in a Vietnam type guerilla war. It will all end like Saigon, with Paul Bremer fleeing the country by helicopter from the roof of the Baghdad Hilton.

Paul Bremer heeft Irak niet als laatste verlaten. Wel is Bremer met een straalvliegtuig van de cia in het geheim twee dagen eerder dan gepland uit Irak vertrokken.
