August | 19. | We being in the Latitude of 39d 10m and distant from our departure at Lisbone 60 Leagues or 180 miles, which makes 4d 45m departure of Longitude, J found the watches to be a quarter of an hour before the Sun. |
August | 22. | We being in the Latitude of 41d 7m and to the Westward of our departure 78 Leagues or 234 miles, which makes 5d 2m (45 miles making one degree), the watch was a quarter of an hour and 5 minutes before the Sun. |
August | 24. | We being in the Latitude of 43d 22m and to the Westward of our departure 112 Leagues or 336 miles, and 44 miles making one Degree, which makes 7d 37m and then J found the watches to be before the Sun half an hour. |
August | 26. | We being in the Latitude of 46d om and from our first meridian 136 Leagues or 408 miles, which makes 9d 22m (44 miles answering to one Degree), J found the watches to be before the Sun three quarters of an hour. |
August | 29. | We being in the Latitude of 47d and from our first meridian 105 Leagues or 315 miles, J found the watches to be before the Sun halfe an hour; 41 miles making one degree of Longitude in the Latitude of 47d om which makes 7d 41m difference of Longitude. |
September. | 1. | We being in the Latitude of 49d 6m and departed from my first meridian 22 Leagues or 66 miles (39 miles making one Degree of Longitude) J found the watches to differ little from the Sun. |
September. | 5. | Jt being very hazy weather that Jcould not try the watches with the Sun from the first untill the 5th September, and then J found the watches to be after the Sun almost halfe an hour; the Sun making 12, and the watches but halfe an hour past 11 of the Clock. |

August 13th we came out of Lisbone, and there J adjusted the watches, and set them going according to the course of the Sun at Lisbone, and these Observations J took coming home, being far Westward, with a Ring Diall when the Sun & Opportunity presented.
