GRAMMAR (called the Spraeck-konst,) is the art of speaking well.
The Elementary Rudements of Speech (as in other tongues) are Letters, for of Letters are made Syllables, of Syllables Words, and of Words Speeches and Sentences. |

Of the Parts of Grammar.
Grammar consists in these two parts, 1. in Words, 2. in the variation of words. |
In Words are taught also these two parts; Orthographie, or the right manner of writing; 2. Prosodie, or the rule of pronouncing words truely or short. |
By the knowledge of words, and the variation of words, reasons are joyned together, this is called Syntaxie, or Construction of words, and Etymologie the true exposition of a word. |
In the Netherdutch Speech there are sixe and twentie letters, whose figures and names are these following: A, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z. |
These Netherdutch letters differ from our English in tone and sound, and come neerer the French pronunciation then ours doe. |
