The little tender heather-flower, The tiny bird within its nest, Seems oft indeed a lonely guest, But God provideth for them best, Sends sunshine and refreshing shower; A friendly hand by no means scant, Oft cares for bird and heather-plant. Thus, undisturbed, ye thrive and flourish, Inspired with vital growth elate; The bird rejoices: ‘God is great!’ The plant sheds blossoms variegate: Its odours sweet the earth do nourish; Yea, both extol their God and Lord, And friends who reared them at his word.
