Dan stuurt De Haan aan Robbers een overdrukje van het lange vers ‘Pindarus' dood’, in juni 1911 in De Gids gepubliceerd847., later opgenomen in de Libertijnsche liederen (1914). Het is de tijd van De Haans poëtische successen. Zelf drukte hij het in een lezing in Groningen in 1913 zó uit: ‘eerst dichtte ik, toen schreef ik proza, nu dicht ik weer’. Het verslag van die lezing in Minerva, 12 december 1913, vervolgt: ‘De tweede dichtperiode begon na spreker's doctoraalexamen in de rechten, misschien was dit wel de oorzaak, omdat daarmee een zware last van zijn geest werd afgewenteld’. In Elsevier hebben geen verzen van De Haan gestaan. |
