EdelAchtbare Heer!
In beleefd antwoord op uw schrijven No 5093 O. van 20 Nov. 1908 zag ik gaarne uwe aandacht gevestigd op het volgende: dat ik u mijne geschriften niet heb toegezonden ‘met de bedoeling, dat de lezing er van u van gedachten omtrent mijn persoon zou doen veranderen’. Ik heb dit in mijn onderhoud en in mijnen brief van Maandag j.l. duidelijk doen uitkomen. Uwe meening, dat ik als onderwijzer in geene enkele school op mijne plaats zou zijn is door mijn zuiver verleden beslist gelogenstraft en zij zou ook door de toekomst zijn gelogenstraft, indien u mij niet het eenige middel hadt ontnomen om de onrechtmatigheid van uw beweren te bewijzen: de practijk.
De zaak is eenvoudig deze: dat u als wethouder en de Heer Sterck als schoolopziener op mij als onderwijzer hebt verhaald de bezwaren die u als antirevolutionair en de Heer Sterck als Roomsch-Katholiek hebt tegen mij als letterkundig kunstenaar.
