He's gone! - yet still that voice I hear
Those accents float upon my ear
And Echo whispering seems to say
'T was yesterday! - the Zephirs tell
He came - is gone - has said farewell
And, ah! too soon shall pass away
'T is sweet to think the time is near,
Though still for Life and Love too far,
'T is mournful-yet 't is sweet to say
Forgotten, lost, and drown'd in tears
Deep in th'abyss of former years,
I see a funeral's sad array -
And day by day, and year by year,
Each mournful Brother following near,
Shall chaunt the dirge, and sigh to say -
