Buf spelen. - Een vraag.
Ik lees in een Engelsch blad:
‘Blindman's Buff was played in West Flanders in a game called buf spelen without a player being blindfold. One player was made the butt of the others, whose aim was to strike him on the back without being caught. When the ‘butt’ caught a boy just after the boy had given him a buffet he was released, and the other took his place as ‘butt’.
Hieruit zou blijken dat ons woordje buf naar Engeland gegaan is. Maar wat is de beteekenis van buf, en werd het spel Buf spelen ooit in West-Vlaanderen beoefend?
