Organizers of the patrol said it began in response to the acquittal last week of Bernhard H Goetz. Nathaniel Cumberbath, a member of the patrol, which is called the Disciples of Justice, told the Times, ‘I don't want me or my son to be picked as targets for violence or harassment because we are black.’ Mr Cumberbath (33) is a construction worker from the East New York section of Brooklyn.
