The Heart
Reporter:
Mister Lofthouse: what is your theory in general?
Pete:
Everyone has a heart.
Reporter:
Mmmm.
Pete:
You, me, all the people.
Reporter:
And what about that heart?
Pete:
That heart must be within you.
Reporter:
I see.
Pete:
For when the heart is not within you - then it is without you.
Reporter:
Ah! Yes!
Pete:
When it is without you - then you are without a heart.
Reporter:
But there IS still a heart?
Pete:
Difficult question. IS there a heart, when you live withóut a heart?
Reporter:
Mmmm.
Pete:
Yes. But it is not a heart within you.
Reporter:
Where is the heart thèn?
Pete:
This heart, the heart that is not within you, the heart you are without, can be everywhere.
Reporter:
Everywhere?
Pete:
Yes. Because it is without me. And out me is everything.
So the heart can be anywhere.
Reporter:
Can my heart be, let us say...in the kitchen?
Pete:
Yes. Because your heart is, where your interest is. You are interested in food - than a part of your heart is in the kitchen. But the kitchen itsèlf...has no heart.
Reporter:
And...when l'm interested in money?
Pete:
Then you put a part of your heart in the money. But money itsèlf, has no heart.
Reporter:
So what, mister Lofthouse, is your advice for a better living?
Pete:
Try to keep your heart within you. And always look first at your left, when you cross the road!
