Den Haag, 21 Maart 1747.
......The Duke is very active and attentive; and for as much as I have seen of him, and Marshall Batthyany together, and of both their characters, I reckon they will agree very well together. I reckon Charles will be here soon to settle with the new Colonel, who is to be named Friday, the affairs of the Company he has quitted. But he must be back again towards the 13 of next month, when there is another Assembly of the States in Overyssel. This morning I met at the States-General Count Rechteren who pretended not to see me, nor I him. I shall be very glad to keep upon that foot with him. The Pensionary is back from Breda, where the conferences are at a stand, till the return of a courier from Spain, who cannot go and come in less than six weeks.
