There is nothing done hitherto with relation to Van Hoey. I went to Mr. Trevor to ask him what satisfaction he desired. With much ado I made him say what he wanted, viz., that Van Hoey should be publickly disavowed and recall'd. The Nobles voted as Trevor desired. But the Pacificators - - Mr. Trevor's friends - - were of another opinion, and would not disoblige France. The affair was put to a Committee, which is not yet held. |
