The news from abroad grow every day worse and worse. The French are going to fill Germany with their armies. It is a great happiness to us that they take off the mask, for now there is some hope, and if they had left us longer asleep, we had maybe never waked again, but pressing danger gives courage and perspicacity. There is no hopes left of an accommodation between the King of Prussia and Queen of Hungary, and it is no great matter, for the King of Prussia's character is such that the most solemn treaty with him or nothing is just the same thing ... All our officers are ordered to their Regiments.
